Book Review - Too Big to Fail
Synopsis:Too Big to Fail is the behind-the-scenes story about our time's biggest financial meltdown. Written from a fly-on-the wall perspective in the rooms of Wall Street senior executives and US government, it re-lives battle by battle, check by check, failure by failure the events leading up to and during the circus. It's decidedly non-fiction, but is written in a fictional way that makes you wonder if this could even be real. And it is.
Why it's important: Read Too Big to Fail if you want to understand more about the reasons behind the events. No financial wizardry education required, Sorkin takes plenty of time to explain the concepts and doesn't bog down in details. Read it if you want to learn more about the drive, ego, greed, morals and ethics of Wall Street vs Main Street vs Politicians, in a play-by-play game analysis. Read it if you want to be really scared of what happened, and a little bit wiser next time a crisis comes along.
